Autores-y-centros

The Catalan literary heritage network, ‘Espais Escrits’, brings together the various literary centres that watch over and promote the reading and study of the Catalan classics. Authors’ homes, writers’ archives and centres which, through a wide range of activities, speak for the currency of the classics and spur the public to read them. They do this by inviting the reader, or non-reader, to visit the place that inspired the author as a genuine experience, offering recitals of samples of the work or making known episodes from literary life that help to understand the author’s creative universe, preserving the great works of literature, studying literary relationships and promoting the publication of leading works of Catalan literature so as to keep it alive and ensure its presence among the new generations. Literary centres that generate emotions and that can rouse the reader’s interest in and fondness for reading the classics.

These works reveal their authors’ most private universe, at the same time as they reach out to us with the offer of unique, transformative experiences. Among the Catalan classics we propose you discover are the romantic poet Jacint Verdaguer, the modernist writer Víctor Català and the playwright Àngel Guimerà. Also present are the prose writer Josep Pla, the author Mercè Rodoreda, the poet Salvador Espriu and many others.
